Ecology Walks

Every third Saturday, enjoy a free walking tour of Buffalo Bayou Park led by Texas Master Naturalists highlighting the landscape and ecology of 19th century Texas that created Houston, as well as the importance of prairies in rebuilding this astonishing and all but vanished ecosystem.

Tour will depart from 105 Sabine Street, 77007, outside the visitor center at The Water Works.

Walks depart at 10:30 am and cover 1-2 miles in 1.5 hours.

Wellness Walks

Join Buffalo Bayou Partnership on a Wellness Walk led by Laura Conely, founder of Urban Paths Wellness Coaching. Anyone and everyone is invited to walk through the paths of Buffalo Bayou Park while discussing topics including mental and physical health as well as the benefits of being exposed to nature.

Tour will depart from 105 Sabine Street, 77007, outside the visitor center at The Water Works.

Walks depart at 6:30 pm and cover 3 miles in 1.5 hours.

East Sector Wellness Walks

Join Buffalo Bayou Partnership on a free Wellness Walk along Buffalo Bayou’s East Sector led by Laura Conely, founder of Urban Paths Wellness Coaching. Discover the historic East End neighborhood. This scenic urban trail follows along Buffalo Bayou flowing toward Tony Marron Park (808 N. York Street) and is a combination of pavement, dirt, and gravel. Wear durable yet comfortable shoes.

Tour will depart from Guadalupe Plaza Park (2311 Runnels Street).

Walks depart at 9 am and cover 3 miles in 1.5 hours.

Art on Wheels

View the public art in Buffalo Bayou Park like never before on this exciting bike ride! During this tour led by BBP guide Andrew Groocock, you will learn about the various works of art along Buffalo Bayou that make this green space so unique.

No bike? No problem! Houston BCycle is generously donating rentals for the tour from the Sabine Street station in Buffalo Bayou Park.

Tour will depart from 105 Sabine Street, 77007, outside the visitor center at The Water Works.

Landscape Design Walking Tour from Lost Lake

Buffalo Bayou Park is an award-winning park for many reasons - and one of those reasons, including its thoughtful and resilient design. What were the considerations and obstacles in planning for this 160-acre green space in the heart of Houston’s floodplain? Find out firsthand on this walking tour led by Scott McCready, Principal of SWA Group, one of the team leads on the landscape design of Buffalo Bayou Park.

Tour will depart from 3422 Allen Parkway, 77019, outside the visitor center at Lost Lake.
